The most recent OTT release on Disney+ Hotstar this week has been able to thoroughly impress the audience. This movie has received overwhelmingly positive reviews from both reviewers and viewers, who have hailed it as a must-see this weekend.
Meesha Impressed OTT Audience
Sara Ali Khan impressed the audience as the differently-abled girl Meesha, Princess of Mayagrah, in this psychological thriller, which revolves around the murder of Raja Ratan Singh Gaikwad. This a little frightening but cleverly adapted movie is wicked — and it glows in all aspects, directed by Pavan Kirpalani. We are informed there has been a murder right at the beginning of the story. Not only who did it, but also why and how, are in doubt here. What keeps you seated tight is how the ongoing mystery plays out.
Sara Ali Khan Meesha Roll
The prologue takes us to Ratan Singh Gaikwad’s haveli, Mayagarh Palace, where, via a home video tape, we see him celebrate the birthday of his daughter Mishri, or Meesha. Years later, following a freak accident that resulted in the death of her mother, Meesha (Sara Ali Khan), who is now confined to a wheelchair, goes home to make amends with her estranged father. Interestingly, Ratan Singh Gaikwad is conspicuously absent as the rest of the family welcomes her home along with her stepmother Rukmini (Chitrangda Singh).
Meesha encounters weird events resembling paranormal activities while staying in the haveli, and via a campaign of false allegations, made-up recollections, and bland denials, she is portrayed as being emotionally vulnerable and on the edge of going insane. Sara Ali Khan does a good job of portraying the disturbed woman Meesha, who has been subjected to a number of subtly and gradually disclosed attacks from her critics. She effectively expresses the character’s terror, perseverance, and anxiousness. You can tell what she is thinking about just by looking into her eyes.
Gaslight on OTT (Hotstar)
As Kapil, the estate manager, the charming Vikrant Massey does a fantastic job. Chitrandga Singh is equally as intense as Rukmini. Both are cunning, and their seamless histrionics keep you interested. Fans also adored the celebrity, particularly Sara Ali Khan’s acting. A user wrote, “Gaslight is a captivating combination of suspense, thrill, and horror, and Vikrant Massey’s performance as a grey dark character was truly intense.
