According to the official announcement, IPL 2023 is set to kick off on March 31, with a match between defending champions Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings in Ahmedabad. This season marks the return of the traditional home-and-away format in India, which was last seen in 2019. The tournament will conclude with the final, also taking place in Ahmedabad, on May 28.

IPL will Start 31 March, 5 Days after WPL Final

The IPL 2023 is scheduled to start on March 31, just five days after the inaugural Women’s Premier League Schedule 2023 final on March 26. The opening weekend of the tournament promises to be exciting, with all ten teams set to take the field. On Friday, the defending champions Gujarat Titans will face off against Chennai Super Kings in Ahmedabad. On Saturday (April 1), Punjab Kings will play Kolkata Knight Riders in Mohali, and Lucknow Super Giants will take on Delhi Capitals in Lucknow. Finally, on Sunday (April 2), Sunrisers Hyderabad will face Rajasthan Royals in Hyderabad, while Royal Challengers Bangalore will play Mumbai Indians in Bengaluru.

Schedule Of Playoff Matches of IPL 2023:

As of now, the IPL 2023 schedule for the four playoff matches of IPL 2023 is yet to be announced. However, it’s been confirmed that the final match will be held in Ahmedabad, although the venue for the other three playoff matches remains unknown.

How Many Groups in IPL 2023?

The IPL 2023 teams have been split into two groups: Group A and Group B. However, unlike the previous season, each team will now play twice against all five teams from the other group, and only once against the remaining four teams from their own group. This means that each team will play a total of 14 league games during the season.

How Many Matches will Play in IPL 2023?

From March 31 to May 21, the league phase of the tournament will include a total of 70 matches. These matches will take place across 12 cities and span over 52 days. The regular venues for the matches will be held in Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Mohali. However, some of the matches will also be played in Guwahati, which is the second home of the Royals, and Dharamsala, which is the second home of the Kings. The first two home games of the Royals will be played in Guwahati, while the remaining five will take place in Jaipur. As for the Kings, their first five home matches will be held in Mohali, and their last two home games will be played in Dharamsala.

How Many Double-Headers Matches & When it will be Played?

During the league phase, there will be a total of 18 double-headers, which will take place every Saturday and Sunday.

1000th IPL Game: MI vs CSK

The two most successful teams in the IPL’s history, Mumbai and Super Kings, will face each other twice on April 8 and May 6. The second match of this fixture will mark the 1000th game in IPL’s history since it began in 2008. Moreover, the Chennai Super Kings will make a comeback to their original home ground at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, or Chepauk, in Chennai.

IPL 2019 was the last time the league was played in all traditional venues in India. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 tournament was postponed to September-November and played in the UAE. In 2021, an attempt to play in India was made, but the season was suspended midway due to a breach of the bio-secure bubble. The second half of the season resumed in the UAE in September. In 2022, the league phase of the tournament was held at venues in Mumbai and Pune, while the playoffs and finals were played in Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
