WPL 2023 Full Schedule: Time Table, Venue, When, and Where to Watch Women’s, Premier League

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released the schedule for the first edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023, which will feature 20 league matches and 2 playoff games played over 23 days. The tournament will be held at 2 venues, DY Patil Stadium and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, with 11 matches at each location. The opening match between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians will take place on March 4 at the DY Patil Stadium, and the final will be held on March 26 at the Brabourne Stadium. There will be 4 double-headers with the first match starting at 3:30 PM IST and all evening matches starting at 7:30 PM IST. The matches will be broadcast on Sport18 and Sports18 Khel in India, and JioCinema will provide live streaming.

The five franchises participating in the Women’s Premier League 2023 – Delhi Centrals, Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and UP Warriorz – spent a total of Rs 59.50 crore to acquire some of the top talents in the domestic and international circuits.

Expensive Buys in WPL Auction 2023

Smriti Mandhana, the star India batter, was the most expensive player at the auction, going to Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 3.40 crore. Team India captain Harmanpreet Kaur was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 1.80 crore, and other top players from India and around the world were also picked up. Australian all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner and England all-rounder Natalie Sciver were the top overseas buys, sold to Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians respectively for Rs 3.20 crore each. Among India’s U19 stars, ICC U19 T20 World Cup-winning captain Shefali Verma was the most expensive, sold to Delhi Centrals for Rs 2 crore.

How Many Matches in Women’s Premier League 2023?

According to the BCCI, there will be a total of 20 league matches and 2 Playoff games in the inaugural edition of WPL 2023, which will last for 23 days. The first game of the event will take place on March 4 at DY Patil Stadium with a highly-anticipated match between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians.

Double Header Matches: Date & Timing

On March 5, there will be the first double-header with Royal Challengers Bangalore facing Delhi Centrals at the Brabourne Stadium in the afternoon and UP Warriorz playing against Gujarat Titans in the evening at the DY Patil Stadium. There will be a total of four double-headers, with matches starting at 3:30 PM IST and 7:30 PM IST.

The matches will be played across two venues in Mumbai, namely the DY Patil Stadium and Brabourne Stadium, with 11 matches each at both venues. The final league match will be played between UP Warriorz and Delhi Centrals on March 21 at the Brabourne Stadium. The playoffs will consist of an Eliminator on March 24 at the DY Patil Stadium, followed by the final on March 26 at the Brabourne Stadium.
